Waiting for the money to come in

It was mentioned about a fortnight ago that you’d be getting the money this year. This was welcome news. Things were tight. Had been for years. Job juggling. Redundancies. Outgoings. This would bridge the gap a while longer, maybe until March.

But then a camera was bought as an essential and a kitten on a whim. The money will definitely be in soon so it’s ok. And a job won’t be far away.

The money didn’t come that week. Banks are closed at the weekend. It’ll definitely be in by Wednesday but it was worth checking Monday and Tuesday just in case. Maybe Thursday.

The overdraft is loitering close to its limit and Christmas is looming in the single figures. Maybe it’ll be tomorrow.
